Real results. Real progress. Real impact.

Across the UK, secondary schools are closing literacy gaps and building confident, independent readers with Lexia® PowerUp Literacy®.

In the last academic year alone, 188,096 pupils benefitted from Lexia, each one supported to strengthen the decoding, grammar, comprehension and vocabulary skills essential for success across the curriculum.

Behind every success story is a teacher empowering progress and a student discovering their potential.

Real School, Real Story: Morton Academy, Carlisle

At Richard Rose Morton Academy in Carlisle, educators are focused on fostering a love of reading while removing literacy barriers to help all learners access the curriculum.

The school introduced Lexia after it was recommended to them by another school and the results became clear very quickly.

Teachers have seen students more motivated to engage in lessons and interventions, building literacy skills independently and developing a genuine love of reading.

Through consistent, well-supported use of Lexia, staff at Morton Academy have seen learners engage more deeply with texts and approach reading with greater confidence.

  • We like Lexia for its personalisation. The students can be independent with it, even when they might not be independent in other subjects. When they are on Lexia, they don’t need as much support so they feel a lot more successful and they are a lot more confident.

The Compton School

At The Compton School, Lexia has become a core part of their reading strategy, supporting secondary students who need targeted literacy intervention. The programme is used across Year 7 and beyond, helping students close foundational reading gaps with personalised, adaptive practice. Lexia acts as a “tutor in a computer,” allowing students to work independently while staff monitor progress, identify gaps and plan tailored support.

The school integrates Lexia into daily routines, including breakfast clubs, personal development time and at-home sessions. Gamified elements, certificates and a tiered rewards system motivate students, while parental involvement ensures support continues beyond the classroom. Lexia has been particularly effective for students with additional needs, low confidence or disengagement, helping them experience success in reading for the first time and fostering intrinsic motivation.

  • I can clearly see a correlation between a child’s engagement with Lexia, and the reading progress over the year. There are several case studies within our school, particularly with disadvantaged students, with one student making nearly 4 years progress in her reading age.

Theale Green School, Reading

At Theale Green School, Lexia has become a central part of the school’s literacy support, helping SEND and Pupil Premium students develop essential reading skills in a personalised, adaptive way. The programme allows students to work independently, while staff track progress and provide targeted support where it’s needed most.

Since introducing Lexia, the school has tripled the number of learners it can support without compromising on tailored intervention. Students engage enthusiastically with the visual, interactive format, celebrating achievements through certificates, streaks and house points, which have boosted motivation and confidence. Many students now approach lessons with a more positive mindset, seeing unfamiliar text as an opportunity rather than a barrier.

  • The Lexia programme has been a huge hit with students, parents and staff. We are seeing improvements not just in literacy but with higher self-esteem of students - they go into lessons feeling more positive, no longer seeing unfamiliar text as a barrier to their learning.

Pakefield High School

At Pakefield High School, Lexia is embedded as a key part of literacy intervention across all year groups, helping students build confidence and close reading gaps through structured, personalised practice. Sessions run during form time, Period 6 and targeted group interventions, giving students regular, consistent opportunities to develop skills in word study, grammar and comprehension.

The programme’s interactive, adaptive approach motivates learners and encourages independent progress. Students celebrate achievements through certificates, streaks and school-wide recognition, while detailed myLexia reports allow staff to track progress, plan additional support and monitor engagement. Lexia has had a particularly positive impact on students’ confidence, including those preparing for GCSEs, helping them feel capable and motivated in literacy.

  • I think for our students, especially boys, interventions can be a big hurdle. But Lexia is interactive, fun and ‘cool’; it’s definitely not your typical intervention! It’s tailor-made for each student. It’s suited to them, at the right level, and they’re progressing as they should be.
