Proven Results for Core5® Reading

Impact

Core5® Reading: Proven by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF)

In a large scale independent EEF efficacy trial across 57 schools and involving 697 pupils, Lexia users made:

  • +1 month of additional progress in overall reading skills compared to the control group.
  • +2 months’ progress in word recognition and decoding skills specifically.
  • +1 month in reading fluency and comprehension.

FSM results:

  • +2 months additional reading progress

Closing the gap

These results indicate that Lexia Core5® Reading has the potential to narrow the attainment gap between FSM and non-FSM pupils, a key priority for many schools.

All of this was achieved with just 24 – 48 hours of use spread over one to two school terms.

What educators said

Staff reported positive experiences, noting improved pupil engagement and the value of automated progress tracking.

School leaders reported the programme was easy to implement and required little ongoing teacher input, making it cost-effective and scalable.

High security / Low-cost rating

The trial earned 4 padlocks (out of 5), indicating high confidence that the observed impact was due to the programme itself and not other factors.

The study reported the cost of Lexia to be ‘very low’ when compared against other interventions.
